Licensing Deputy – County Auditor’s Office
Location: Ritzville, Washington
Position Summary
Provides front‑line customer service and technical clerical support for vehicle licensing and related title and registration transactions, ensuring accurate processing in compliance with Washington State and County regulations.
Essential Duties
- Assist the public at the counter, by phone, and by mail with vehicle, vessel, and related licensing questions and transactions.
- Review applications and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and legal sufficiency; identify and correct errors before processing.
- Process titles, registrations, renewals, and other licensing transactions using state and county computer systems and established procedures.
- Receive and reconcile payments, issue receipts, balance daily cash/credit batches, and follow cash‑handling policies.
- Maintain records, files, and logs in an organized and confidential manner; prepare routine reports as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of customer service and/or cash‑handling experience in an office, financial, or retail setting.
- Ability to learn and apply Washington licensing laws, rules, and procedures; type and perform data entry with accuracy; communicate clearly and professionally with the public and coworkers.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an office environment with frequent public contact, periods of high transaction volume, and prolonged sitting or standing at a counter or workstation.
