    JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB TITLE: Paraprofessional - Preschool Learning Facilitator FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
    REPORTS TO: Principal of Early Learning PAY GRADE: CLS-11

    JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
    The Preschool Learning Facilitator is responsible for creating and facilitating developmentally appropriate learning experiences in an inclusive classroom for children ages three (3) through five (5) years old under the supervision of the site Early Childhood Teacher or Principal of Early Learning.

    Key duties include facilitating learning; supporting IEP goals and implementing appropriate accommodations; facilitating large and small group instruction; guiding classroom paraprofessionals; managing daily administrative and clerical tasks; assessing student progress; engaging in regular communicating with parents and staff; conducting parent conferences; attending annual IEP meetings; attending professional development; attending to the personal needs of children including lifting, holding, diapering, feeding, and toilet training; preparing class materials; preparing and disinfecting room and toys; and maintaining a clean, organized classroom.

    REQUIREMENTS
    Education Level Details
    High school diploma or equivalent.
    Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) in Early Childhood Education or similar experience is required
    Substitute Teaching License required

    License or Certification
    Early Childhood Professional Credential version 3.0, Level III or higher required.
    Large Center Director Qualifications letter issued by the Department of Early Childhood preferred.
    Compliance with all Colorado Department of Early Childhood rules regulating child care centers required.

    Work Experience Required
    Must have at least three (3) years of satisfactory experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than eight (8) years of age who are not related to the individual. Five (5) years of experience or more is preferred.
    Experience with typically developing children and children with special needs is preferred.
    Experience with implementation of curriculum, lesson planning, and data collection.
    Supervisory experience preferred.

    Other Skills and Abilities Required.
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with young children.
    Knowledge of Colorado Department of Early Childhood’s licensing regulations and Colorado’s Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
    Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with preschoolers.
    Ability to facilitate learning designed by the Early Childhood Teacher or Principal of Early Learning.
    Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software.
    Physical capability to actively engage with children and meet their developmental needs
    Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

    KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    General
    • Facilitate learning aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards, Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, and the district’s plan of instruction.
    • In collaboration with the Early Childhood Teacher or Principal of Early Learning, develop and implement lessons that connect to a variety of content areas and use appropriate evidence-based, developmentally appropriate instructional practices conducive to the growth and development of each child.
    • Modify and adapt instructional materials to support the participation of students with disabilities, in collaboration with special education providers.
    • Collaborate with families, colleagues, special service providers, and leadership for the benefit of students.
    • Create an engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children, fostering a positive and nurturing classroom community.
    • Maintain a structured and safe classroom environment.
    • Observe and assess children's progress, documenting observations as needed.
    • Provide support to children with diverse learning needs, following individualized plans as required.
    • Maintain open and effective communication with parents or caregivers regarding children's progress and needs.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of preschoolers, including assistance with toileting, hygiene, and health-related needs.
    • Use formal and informal methods to collect data related to children's development and behavior, as required.
    • Maintain compliance with all state, county, and district licensing regulations, including organizing and cleaning the classroom and creating an inviting learning environment.
    • Facilitate the inclusion of children with special needs, promoting an inclusive classroom.
    • Use technology to facilitate the learning process.
    • Under the direction of the site Early Childhood Teacher or Principal of Early Learning, organize and allocate work to other paraprofessional staff, student interns, and classroom volunteer(s) and ensure completion.
    • Promote diversity and cultural sensitivity within the classroom, celebrating the individual backgrounds and experiences of students.
    • Foster open and effective communication with parents or guardians, including holding conferences and providing progress reports.

    Other
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
    • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing staff meetings, professional learning communities, training, and professional development as required by the district and Colorado's early childhood education standards.



    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Provide guidance to the classroom paraprofessional under the supervision of the Principal of Early Learning.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

    The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The role may involve providing specialized care, including potential diaper changing.

    Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in offices, hallways, gyms, classrooms, bathrooms, shops, playgrounds, cafeterias, portable buildings and pool environments. The employee may be required to work from a remote location in the event of a district shut-down or other event. Employees may be required to work evenings and weekends and attend events where community members are in attendance.

    Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate.
