Essential Duties Of a Jail Deputy
- Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, administer first aid, and prepare detailed reports and documentation.
- Escort and transport inmates within the facility and to the hospital for medical needs, ensuring safety and security at all times.
- Inspect facility infrastructure, including locks, doors, and security equipment, to identify and address safety concerns.
- Assist with court-related functions, including preparing inmates for advisal and court appearances.
- Participate in required training and maintain certifications, including driving, defensive tactics (PPCT), firearms, Taser, and OC.
- Perform additional law enforcement duties at community events and other assignments as directed.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Mandatory shift rotation every 3 months
- 12-hour shifts
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Graveyard Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must currently be COLORADO P.O.S.T. Certified.
- Jail deputy experience preferred
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Possess a valid Colorado Drivers' License.
IMPORATANT NOTE: The testing process includes:
- Completing the written exam through the National Testing Network.
- A minimum score of 70% is required in each section (Video, Written, and Reading).
- Oral Board Interview.
- Physical Fitness Test Battery. A detailed email will be sent to eligible candidates closer to the testing date for Oral board interviews and Physical Testing.
