General Purpose
Maintains the counties Foster Mound convenience station in a safe and orderly manner. Performs any combination of duties to dispose of solid waste materials. Operates equipment, such as compactor, weed eater, lawnmower, and backhoe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directs incoming vehicles to dumping area
Examines cargo to prohibit disposal of caustic waste and other items
Maintains a clean site
Informs the public of the stations site policies
Desired Minium Qualifications
Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
Valid MS driver’s license
Knowledge of operating of said equipment
Basic knowledge of the safe and proper operation of powered equipment, such as: weed eater, lawnmower, and backhoe.
Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing when necessary; ability to observe proper safety precautions; ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public; ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions; ability to drive and operate a variety of vehicles under varying weather conditions.
Adams County employees are subject to a background check, pre-employment and random drug screening, and a six (6) month working probation period.
Existing employees are subject to a thirty (30) day probationary period.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, talk and hear; walk, sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; and smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 80 pounds to a height of 36”. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside in all weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to hot, cold, wet and/ or humid conditions and loud work environment.
Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 8:00am to 5:00pm
