Job Reports To: Pre-Press Manager
This position is responsible for coordinating the intake of files for all internal and commercial printing jobs and producing plates for all printed material produced by APG Chesapeake. This position is a key point-of-contact for all printing customers, overseeing the “pre-flight” process for all published material.
This is a 2nd shift position starting at 4pm, Monday through Thursday
Job Functions
The successful candidate must be dependable, self-starting, attentive to details and receptive to training. This position actively performs or assists with the following duties:
- Enter publications into Newsway, creating folders for clients to upload files to.
- Troubleshoot jobs as necessary to help customers achieve the best print quality.
- De-sheet plates for production.
- Run jobs to plate in order of priority, working in conjunction with lead press operators on
- the web and sheetfed presses.
- Complete print jobs on the digital press.
- Prepare jobs for outsourcing as needed.
- Download jobs from FTP site.
Minimum Requirements:
- Two years of work experience in graphic design.
Technology Skills:
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and Indesign
- Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending at the waist, and carrying.
- Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds.
Education:
- High school diploma required. Some college preferred.
Hourly rate: $17-$18/hour
