Summer Lifeguard (Temporary) – Brevard County, FL
Pay: $17.00/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (hours may vary; weekends possible)

Position Overview
Join our team this summer as a Seasonal Lifeguard and help ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons at County swimming facilities. Under the supervision of a Lifeguard Captain I, you will perform entry-level protective service work, monitor pool activity, and respond to emergencies when needed.
This is a great opportunity for certified lifeguards looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor pool activity to ensure patron safety and prevent accidents
- Enforce pool rules and respond to unsafe behavior or hazards
- Recognize swimmers in distress and perform rescues as needed
- Provide first aid and emergency care when required
- Maintain daily logs including rescues, first aid incidents, and pool conditions
- Assist with pool maintenance and filtration system operation
- Help maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of the facility
- Answer patron questions while remaining attentive to safety duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of Brevard County Lifeguard Training Program
- Current Lifeguard Certification (including open water)
- Current certifications in:
- CPR
- First Aid (EMT or First Responder certification may substitute)
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
- Ability to pass the Brevard County Lifeguard Performance Test
Preferred:
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of water safety, rescue, and first aid techniques
- Skilled swimmer with lifesaving abilities
- Ability to stay alert and react quickly in emergency situations
- Strong judgment and ability to enforce rules professionally and tactfully
- Ability to manage crowds and maintain control in busy environments
- Capable of completing reports and maintaining accurate records
- Ability to remain attentive for extended periods
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily light but may involve occasional strenuous activity
- Extended periods outdoors in sun and heat
- Regular exposure to chlorinated water
- Must be physically capable of performing rescues and emergency response
