Schedule: Part-Time
- Monday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Tuesday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Friday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Cafeteria Cook / Lead Cook to join our food service team in Sarasota, Florida. The Cafeteria Cook / Lead Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals and snacks while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience preparing meals for large groups, strong kitchen organization skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Previous leadership or kitchen coordination experience is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals, snacks, and beverages using approved cooking methods and kitchen equipment
- Ensure meals are prepared in appropriate quantities based on the number of individuals being served
- Maintain meal preparation and service schedules
- Coordinate, assign, and monitor tasks performed by kitchen staff and food service workers
- Assist with menu planning and recommend food and supply purchases
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines and health regulations
- Promote proper food handling procedures and personal hygiene among kitchen staff
- Monitor kitchen supplies and notify management of inventory needs
- Assist with general kitchen organization and daily food service operations
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing food for large groups
- Previous lead cook or kitchen coordination experience preferred
- Strong understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable attendance and punctuality required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods
- Ability to work around hot cooking surfaces and cold storage areas
- Ability to frequently lift and carry 25–50 pounds
- Comfortable working in a commercial kitchen environment
Licenses & Certifications
