Role Summary- The Junior System Administrator is responsible for the installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the network, systems hardware and software, and related infrastructure. Roles & Responsibilities- IT Infrastructure & Support-
- Provide on-site and remote desktop support for internal teams and client environments.
- Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune, Azure AD).
- Maintain Windows Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, patching).
- Support networking infrastructure (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routing/switching)
- Maintain wireless infrastructure (Palo Alto, Cisco, Meraki).
- Manage virtualization environments (VMware). Automation & Laboratory Systems-
- Assist in automation and DevOps pipelines for lab workflows and internal systems.
- Support and manage laboratory automation platforms (e.g., Tecan systems).
- Perform minor scripting modifications and troubleshooting for Tecan automation workflows.
- Monitor automation performance, uptime, and error handling.
- Coordinate with lab and engineering teams to optimize throughput and reduce downtime. Monitoring, Logging & Reliability-
- Implement and manage system monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks.
- Track system performance metrics and proactively identify risks.
- Ensure high availability of mission-critical systems
- Security & Compliance-
- Assist in implementing IT security policies and best practices
- Conduct basic security awareness training for staff (phishing, password hygiene, access control).
- Support identity and access management (IAM) controls and audits.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare and data security standards (HIPAA-aware environment). Vendor & Contract Support-
- Assist in vendor coordination and contract discussions for IT systems, networking, and automation platforms.
- Support evaluation of tools, software, and infrastructure providers.
- Track SLAs, performance, and vendor deliverables. IT Service Management (ITSM)- Participate in:
- Incident management.
- Problem management.
- Change management.
- Service request fulfillment.
- Document resolutions and contribute to continuous improvement
- Additional Responsibilities-
- Support cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP – exposure preferred).
- Assist with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or similar).
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
- Perform other duties as assigned Education-
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology Experience-
- 2-3 years in IT or related field. Skills-
- 1 years of experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Professional demeanor to be able to effectively work with customers and end-users.
- A strong interest in cloud platforms and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Prior troubleshooting/analysis experience.
- Experience gained through formal education/labs or side projects in one’s own time will be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems preferred, but not required.
- Shell scripting experience or familiarity with AWS services a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Windows and Linux system administration.
- Knowledge and experience with implementation and management of infrastructure capabilities such as: identity and access management, OS/App patching systems, Linux/windows scripting. Physical Requirements-
