We’re partnering with a fast‑growing personal lines insurer that is looking for an Actuarial Data Scientist to lead loss cost modeling for their Homeowners product. This position is ideal for someone who loves building scalable modeling pipelines, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to influence both technical direction and business strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end‑to‑end development of Homeowners loss cost models, setting technical standards and modeling best practices.
- Own the annual build of by‑peril frequency and severity models.
- Expand modeling capabilities across conversion, retention, and aggregation to support pricing, business mix, and portfolio optimization.
- Build reusable analytical tools and workflows that improve efficiency and consistency across the actuarial organization.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Underwriting, and Engineering to translate modeling insights into actionable business recommendations and ensure smooth production deployment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, actuarial science, or a related quantitative field, ACAS or FCAS
- 5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or actuarial modeling within personal lines P&C insurance
- Strong experience with loss cost modeling; exposure to demand, underwriting, or claims modeling is a plus
- Solid understanding of actuarial pricing principles
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with cross‑functional stakeholders
