Acuff Financial Services is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with public accounting experience who is interested in growing into a Tax Manager role within our CPA firm.

This role involves preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, advising clients on planning strategies, mentoring staff, and helping improve firm systems and workflows. The ideal candidate enjoys both technical tax work and improving processes, and wants to play an active role in the continued growth of the firm.

This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, mentor junior staff, and help shape processes and procedures within a growing firm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including 1040, 1120S, 1065, 1120, and 1041
  • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services for individuals and business owners
  • Research complex tax issues and develop practical planning strategies
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients regarding tax questions, IRS notices, and planning opportunities
  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and provide mentorship and training
  • Assist in managing workflow and deadlines during tax season
  • Develop and implement improvements to internal tax preparation and review processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve firm workflow, efficiency, and documentation
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on tax planning strategies and firm growth initiatives
  • Support the training and development of staff as the firm continues to expand

Qualifications

  • Active CPA or EA license required
  • Recent public accounting tax experience required
  • 5 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns
  • Knowledge of S-corporation, partnership, and small business tax planning
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients
  • Experience reviewing staff work and mentoring junior accountants preferred
  • Interest in leadership and long-term growth within a CPA firm

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $85,000 – $110,000, depending on experience, with opportunity

This position will be filled following the 2026 tax season, with an anticipated start date between April and July 2026, depending on candidate availability. We welcome conversations during tax season with the understanding that any transition would occur after filing deadlines.

Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
