BMS is seeking a motivated individual looking to work for our sheet metal fabrication and assembly company, this position is perfect for someone with attention to detail that likes to take the initiative.
BMS Aerospace has been a reliable manufacturer in the sheet metal fabrication and assembly business for over 40 years during which BMS has been providing products and services to the Aerospace, IGT, Defense and commercial industries. Recently, BMS has acquired non-conventional machining services with the addition of BMS Acucut. We will continue to grow and support our customer base through continued investment in our operations and employees.
We are looking for a layout inspector to perform a variety of inspection processes. The position will require the individual to use various hand measurement tools and techniques, following standardized methods and established procedures to verify production process integrity from start to finish. It will also include preparation and presentation of parts to customer for Final Inspection and drafting of customer certification packages. BMS is willing to provide training to candidates that show a willingness to learn and retain new skills.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of GD&T preferred
- Follow established procedures to perform in-process checks and verification of dimensions and review operation sheets for conformance to the requirements
- Support initiatives as directed to reduce MRB and re-work requirements and assist in the manufacture of quality parts.
- Assist on various internal audits as required
- May assist others at their direction in the investigation of unusual non-conformances, new or changed inspection sequences, and other specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this job function.
- Support Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement initiatives and function as requested.
- The individual may be required to conduct tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department or cell objectives and to develop individual skills.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs
- Ability to utilize inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM a plus)
- 1 year of relevant inspection experience
- Ability to utilize computer software
- Ability to understand, read and write English
