Position Overview
The Associate Director plays a key role in growing Active Youth Wisconsin’s impact through program expansion and fundraising.
This position is responsible for developing relationships with schools and community partners to expand afterschool programming and increase participation in Active Youth Wisconsin initiatives. A primary focus of the role is identifying opportunities to bring programs into new schools, strengthen existing school relationships, and grow long-term engagement with the organization.
In addition, this role leads organizational fundraising efforts through donor development, fundraising campaigns, community engagement, and relationship management. The Director of Program Growth & Development will own day-to-day fundraising activities and donor stewardship while collaborating with the Executive Director on overall fundraising strategy and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities
Program Growth & School Partnerships
- Develop and maintain relationships with educators, administrators, and school communities to expand Active Youth Wisconsin programming
- Identify and pursue opportunities to bring afterschool programs into new schools and communities
- Build and cultivate school champions who can support long-term program growth and engagement
- Manage outreach efforts, partnership development, and school relationship pipelines
- Increase participation and engagement in Active Youth Wisconsin programs and initiatives
- Maintain school and community contact databases
Fundraising & Donor Development
- Lead organizational fundraising efforts through donor cultivation, fundraising campaigns, and community engagement
- Develop and manage relationships with individual donors and community supporters
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue through annual giving, family engagement, events, and community-based fundraising initiatives
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on fundraising strategy, donor growth, organizational sustainability goals and donor stewardship activities including communication, follow-up, acknowledgements, and ongoing engagement
- Manage donor records, fundraising activity, and development tracking within DonorDock
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Assist with coach recruitment and onboarding efforts
- Support organizational events, outreach opportunities, and community engagement activities
- Assist with program logistics, supplies, and operational needs as necessary
- Collaborate with organizational leadership to support continued program and organizational growth
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in education, business, nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field
- 2 year’s experience in fundraising, business development, donor relations, sales, education, nonprofit leadership, or community engagement
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to connect with educators, donors, families, and community partners
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop opportunities, build partnerships, and drive organizational growth
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities with strong follow-through
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ownership and adapt within a growing organization
- Experience with donor management or CRM systems preferred
- Passion for youth development, movement-based programming, and improving mental and physical health outcomes for kids
