Position Overview
The System Administrator – IT & Cybersecurity is responsible for maintaining, securing, and supporting Activated Insights’ IT infrastructure and end-user environments, with an emphasis on cybersecurity best practices and proactive risk reduction, reporting and compliance. This role provides desktop and system administration support for our Tampa office, participates in enterprise system management, and serves as a bridge between IT operations and cybersecurity compliance — ensuring daily IT work aligns with corporate security standards and company policies.
This position will work closely with the VP of IT & Cybersecurity and peers in IT, Engineering and Product to ensure stable, secure, and compliant operations across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
IT Systems Administration

Provide on-site and remote desktop support for employees in the Tampa office (hardware, software, network connectivity, and account setup).

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access through Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and related tools.

Support system administration activities for servers, networks, and cloud environments (AWS, M365, endpoint management).

Assist in system monitoring, patching, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.

Collaborate with other IT team members on vendor support cases, infrastructure upgrades, and M&A system integrations.
Cybersecurity Operations

Implement and monitor security tools (EDR, MFA, vulnerability scanners, encryption, log monitoring).

Support cybersecurity policy enforcement, including identity management, device security, and data protection standards.

Participate in risk assessments, incident response activities, and internal audits.

Help maintain compliance with frameworks such as HIPAA, HHS 405(d), SOC2, and NIST CSF.

Conduct periodic end-user cybersecurity awareness activities and coordinate phishing simulations.

Assist with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tuning, patch deployment, and incident documentation.
Process and Documentation

Maintain IT documentation including network diagrams, access inventories, and asset logs.

Assist in building checklists and standard operating procedures for repeatable IT and security tasks.

Provide input to the VP of IT on process improvements and cost optimization opportunities.
Qualifications
Skills Needed:
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including knowledge of key stakeholders and regulatory landscape.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of networking, Microsoft 365 administration, and endpoint management.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (HIPAA, NIST, SOC2, or ISO 27001).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in IT systems administration or desktop support.
- Hands-on experience managing Microsoft 365, Windows endpoints, and network devices.
- Experience supporting cybersecurity tools (MFA, EDR, encryption, vulnerability management)
Preferred Certifications:
- CompTIA Security or CySA
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or M365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator.
- (Optional stretch) CISSP, CISM, or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to come into the Tampa, FL office
