Job description:


The Safety and Environmental Officer will evaluate job sites and employee activities for potential health and safety hazards including, but not limited to, Fire Safety, electrical safety, worker safety trainings and certifications, health related issues, indoor air quality, asbestos and mold abatement, HazMat management, etc.


This position ensures that a data center environment operates in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. This position develops safety programs, conducts training, manages audits, and leads initiatives to reduce environmental impact and operational risk.


Pay Rate: Up to $130,000 per year


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement safety programs, emergency response plans, and environmental compliance strategies
  • Conduct regular safety audits, imspections, and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulations, and other safety standards
  • Lead incident investigations and manage corrective action plans
  • Deliver safety training for staff and contractors, including electrical safety, confined space, and HazCom
  • Monitor environmental metrics such as energy usage, emissions, and waste management
  • Maintain documentation for regulatory reporting and internal compliance
  • Acts as a knowledge source for all safety related issues that arise
  • Works in association with client for the overall operations of the Safety Program
  • Devises and coordinates safety trainings and track implemenation of new programs
  • Maintains awareness of regulatory, company, and federal safety requirements
  • Responsible for the implementation of the Site-Specific Safety Program at location, including the creation of the task order required Site Specific Safety Plans
  • Oversees and can authorize the procurement of project safety supplies and equipment and is responsible for the implementation of the site safety training of employees and subcontractor safety training.
  • Designated on-site competent person and Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO), as defined by OSHA
  • Responsible to enforce the safety directives per Site Safety Program, site-specific APPs and OSHA.
  • Conducts daily safety and health inspections; Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports; Maintains the OSHA Form 300; Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution; Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Owns/Accountable for Safety Execution within the assigned project location.


Required Skills, Experience, and Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience may be accepted in place of a degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and a Industrial Hygienist, Safety Officer, or related field
  • Prior experience working as a federal contractor in the facilities management industry or working with federal agencies in a mission critical environment
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and lead project to completion
  • Facilities management inspection and administration with similar large-scale projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • OSHA 10/30
  • High School Diploma or equivalent


Physical Requirements:


The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.

Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another.

Visually seeing equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses).

Exposure to computer screens, monitors and other screens as necessary.

Sitting for periods of time.

Standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time.

Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.

Working at elevated heights.

Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions. Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions.

Remaining calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident.

Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required.

Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs.

Able to work at heights up to 30 feet.

Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
