Job Description
We are an international engineering consultancy specializing in solutions for tunnel and underground projects. We offer geotechnical and tunnel engineering services, along with consultancy in tunnel construction, as well as program and construction management. This role involves performing inspection services on the Potomac River Tunnel project in DC. This is a long-term position estimated to span 3 years, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts on underground construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform numerical analysis for tunnel and shaft design.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
- Conduct geotechnical data analysis for tunnel design.
- Participate in site investigation and tunnel inspection.
- Design support for tunnels and shafts.
- Provide support for proposals related to site inspection.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, with 5 years of experience preferred.
- Knowledge of tunneling in soft ground or hard rock and experience with Tunnel Boring Machines.
- Ability to prepare specifications and contract documents.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering and geotechnical engineering fundamentals.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience working in confined underground environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with close attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a diverse workforce.
- Experience with field-related tunnel and/or geotechnical projects.
- Experience in ground improvement, excavating, pre-support installation, TBM operations, geotechnical investigations, and underground construction.
The position will be based in the Ashburn, VA office for office-related tasks, with on-site work at the Potomac River Tunnel project in DC. The work culture is laid-back, valuing hard work and diversity. Collaboration occurs with other offices, including those in New York.
