MEDICAL ASSISTANT NEEDED IN FAIRFIELD, CT!

Job Description

An opportunity to join a caring and compassionate medical support team in a busy outpatient care center. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with physicians and advanced practitioners to ensure patients are provided with the most comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, obtain information for patient chart, and document accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
• Update patient's medical history, including updated medication list.
• Document all patient phone calls and, under the direction and guidance of the provider, inform patients of test results.
• Familiarize with the prior authorization process.
• Ask appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately record in Epic.
• Schedule office visits, confirm appointments, update patient insurance and demographic information, and answer incoming calls while documenting utilizing Epic EMR.
• Properly compose, process, and follow up on electronic phone messages and alerts.
• Utilize EMR to answer administrative questions.
• Process insurance authorizations when required.
• Monitor the schedule of assigned providers, noting and correcting errors as appropriate.

Essential Skills

• Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (if not certified, must be prepared to complete certification within 6 months of joining the team).
• At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1 year of healthcare experience).
• Experience utilizing EMR systems, with Epic experience being a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• GI experience is a significant plus.
• Medical office experience is a must.

Work Environment

Busy outpatient GI medical center with 7 providers. The schedule is Monday to Friday with 8-hour shifts, open to working between the hours of 8 am-6 pm and expecting to show up 15 minutes early for each shift. The office is very clean, with no blood draws or procedures done on-site. Soft skills required include being warm and inviting, taking initiative, being a good team player, and providing top-notch patient care.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.32/hr.
