Job Description
A leading construction firm is seeking a Traveling Construction Project Manager / Superintendent based in the Nashville, TN area to oversee ongoing and upcoming projects throughout Texas. This role is ideal for an experienced construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys frequent travel, and can manage projects from preconstruction through closeout while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, schedule, and budget. The position includes per diem and fully covered lodging while traveling.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from initial planning and kickoff through completion and closeout.
- Coordinate project schedules, subcontractors, materials, and all on-site construction activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between project owners, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Track and report on project budgets, including cost reporting, change orders, and financial forecasts.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within approved budget parameters.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to verify scope compliance and identify potential issues early.
- Enforce safety standards and OSHA regulations on all job sites, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Travel regularly to project locations across Texas to support and oversee field operations.
- Support preconstruction planning efforts and contribute to project sequencing and logistics strategies.
- Monitor field progress, resolve issues as they arise, and proactively mitigate risks to schedule and budget.
- At least 10 years of experience in construction project management, including a minimum of 5 years working as a superintendent.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and industry best practices.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors, project schedules, and construction budgets.
- Ability to work comfortably on active job sites and travel regularly to various project locations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with owners, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with construction management or scheduling software (experience preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Experience enforcing OSHA regulations and job site safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
This is a traveling role based out of the Nashville, TN area, with regular trips to active construction sites across Texas. The position involves working on active job sites, coordinating with field crews and subcontractors, and spending significant time in the field overseeing day-to-day operations. Travel arrangements are coordinated by the employer, with a daily per diem provided and lodging expenses fully covered during travel. The work environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring frequent interaction with project stakeholders and adherence to strict safety and OSHA standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.27 - $60.10/hr.
