What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Maker position at Actalent?
Tooling Technician to support our engineering and production teams by designing, fabricating, and maintaining high-precision tooling solutions. This role is critical to ensuring efficient manufacturing operations and continuous improvement in tooling performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Fabrication
- Develop custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures based on engineering specifications and production requirements.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings to determine optimal materials, machining processes, and tool geometry.
- Machining Operations
- Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and saws.
- Operate CNC mills, wire EDM, and RAM EDM equipment to produce precision tooling components.
- Create and optimize CNC programs using CAM software to ensure efficient, accurate, and repeatable machining.
- Quality Assurance
- Inspect and verify tooling dimensions using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and height gauges.
- Ensure all tooling meets quality standards and tolerances required for production.
- Collaboration & Innovation
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to conceptualize, refine, and troubleshoot tooling solutions.
- Provide input on design improvements and contribute to continuous process optimization.
- Workplace Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support tooling and manufacturing operations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
