Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Test Engineer specializing in Protection and Control (P&C) systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems that monitor power substations. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and proficiency in computer skills to handle microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, and motors.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying and associated devices.
• Perform calibration of various types of protection and control relays and devices.
• Assist in creating and maintaining protection and control documentation.
• Support the project lead with field assignments.
• Install, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devices.
• Participate in process hazard analyses.
• Stay updated with current industry trends and practices.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and installation.
• Solid grounding in electrical engineering and power systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience with AC and DC systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
• 0-3 years of experience in engineering or a similar role.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with testing or troubleshooting electrical circuits, PLCs, or other Intelligent Electronic Devices.
• Willingness to work outdoors and prior experience in outdoor work environments.

Work Environment

The position is based at the Headland Subs & P&C Field Service HQ-FHQ050. Successful candidates must reside within a reasonable commute to the assigned office location. This role offers an opportunity to enter Alabama's largest utility.

This is a Contract position based out of Headland, AL.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $47.00/hr.
