Job Description

The Lab Technician is responsible for setting eggs according to customer or management specifications, monitoring temperature and humidity levels of machines, and ensuring the quality of incubated eggs. The role involves recording data accurately, preparing incubation tags, and performing cleaning and biosecurity tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set eggs according to customer or management specifications.
• Record appropriate information on the order sheet, including date, flock number, and quantity.
• Prepare incubation tags for orders.
• Monitor temperature and humidity levels of each machine.
• Candle eggs and pack incubated egg orders according to customer specification.
• Select appropriate eggs for breeder stock.
• Set eggs for flock replacement and bird sales as required.
• Complete and distribute all required incubation paperwork.
• Input all incubation data into the appropriate spreadsheets.
• Clean incubators and associated equipment with appropriate solutions; perform weekly fumigation, maintaining biosecurity.
• Perform environmental sampling of incubators and complete associated paperwork.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.
• 2 years of work experience, preferably in a processing or poultry farm environment.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Work Environment

The position requires frequent lifting and moving of flats of eggs weighing up to 30 pounds and regular lifting and moving of cases of eggs weighing up to 60 pounds. The technician must constantly position themselves to access and inspect eggs and assess their condition from various distances within the incubation area. Regular operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery is required. The technician must be able to accurately exchange information through various technologies, media, and contacts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Voluntown, CT.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $52000.00/yr.
