Fall Protection Repair Technician
Job Overview
The Fall Protection Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing customer‑owned fall protection equipment returned from the field. Equipment often arrives with dirt, debris, or environmental contamination and requires detailed inspection and mechanical repair. Due to the high volume and variety of incoming equipment, technicians are assigned to one or two product lines to streamline training, improve accuracy, and ensure consistent repair quality.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring all repaired products are safe, compliant, and ready for return to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Visually inspect returned fall protection equipment for damage or wear
- Disassemble equipment to access internal components and remove defective parts
- Inspect parts for imperfections, excessive wear, corrosion, or dimensional changes
- Determine repair requirements based on product condition and customer needs
- Repair or replace damaged or worn components
- Clean, lubricate, and reassemble equipment to specification
- Operate metalworking tools (drill press, grinder, etc.) to repair or fabricate parts
- Ensure all repairs meet product, quality, and safety specifications
- Create work orders and document all parts used during repairs
- Estimate repair costs and communicate requirements as needed
- Initiate purchase orders for replacement parts and tooling
- Maintain accurate repair and inventory records per departmental standards
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and the Idea Card program
- Provide feedback on processes to improve efficiency and safety
- Support team members and collaborate across assigned product lines
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment
- Follow all safety procedures and immediately report hazards, injuries, or near‑misses
- Take reasonable precautions to prevent accidents—safety is the top priority
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or leads
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical repair, maintenance, or similar environments (private, public, government, or military)
- Minimum 2 years of experience reading and using blueprints, schematics, or repair diagrams
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and repair processes
- Ability to work independently within assigned product lines
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Clear communication skills and team‑oriented mindset
- Comfortable working with equipment that may be dirty or contaminated from field use
Additional Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to perform the Essential Functions of the Assignment (EFA) with or without reasonable accommodation (available upon request)
Work Environment

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Red Wing, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
