Technical Writer

Job Description:

This Technical Writer role sits at the heart of digital content creation, focusing on the development of eBooks and other digital products that help transform client workforces. You collaborate closely with photographers, videographers, graphic artists, project managers, and app engineers to outline, write, and edit high-quality text content. You also build strong relationships with clients at their job sites across the United States and support the direction and production of media content, including photos and videos that feature client workers and team members. This position suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced team environment and feels comfortable wearing multiple hats across writing, media, and client-facing work.

Responsibilities:

• Outline, write, and edit clear, accurate, and engaging text content for eBooks and other digital products.
• Collaborate with photographers, videographers, graphic artists, project managers, and app engineers to produce cohesive digital learning and communication materials.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients at their job sites across the United States.
• Travel to client locations to gather information, conduct interviews, and capture on-site details needed for technical content and media.
• Assist in directing and producing media content, including photos and videos that feature client workers and team members.
• Ensure written materials follow established style guidelines and citation standards, including AP or Chicago style.
• Apply technical understanding to accurately describe processes, systems, or equipment in a way that is accessible to the target audience.
• Review and revise content for clarity, consistency, grammar, and overall quality before publication.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Contribute creative ideas to improve digital products and enhance the overall user experience.

Essential Skills:

• Proven technical writing skills with the ability to outline, draft, and edit clear and concise content.
• Strong technical understanding to accurately interpret and explain complex information.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite to support the creation and refinement of digital content.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, including grammar, structure, and tone appropriate for professional materials.
• Familiarity with either AP or Chicago citation style and the ability to apply style guidelines consistently.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with photographers, videographers, graphic artists, project managers, and app engineers.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced team environment and managing multiple priorities.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 25% of the time to client sites across the United States.

• Background or interest in engineering or construction, with the ability to understand technical concepts.
• Experience or interest in graphic design to support visually engaging content.
• Openness to candidates with a wide range of years of experience and professional backgrounds.
• Comfort directing or assisting in the production of photos and videos in field environments.
• Ability to adapt quickly, wear multiple hats, and contribute across writing, media, and client-facing activities.

• During the first approximately six months, you work on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for training and onboarding.
• After training, the position transitions to a hybrid schedule, typically with one to two days per week in the office depending on workload.
• Travel is an integral part of the role, with about 25% travel expected—generally one trip per month for a Monday-to-Friday period, where Monday and Friday are travel days and Tuesday through Thursday are client site days; occasionally there may be two trips in a month or no trips in a given month, depending on project needs.
• You collaborate closely with creative and technical teams and use tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and other digital production technologies to deliver high-quality content.

This is a Permanent position based out of Williamsburg, VA.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Williamsburg,VA.
