Technical Sales Manager – Environmental Testing (Air & Vapor Intrusion)
Location: Folsom, CA (Hybrid – onsite during ramp, then remote)
Compensation: Base commission; $120,000–$150,000 OTE (highly competitive, experience‑dependent)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Sales Manager to support and grow an Environmental Testing business with a focus on air, soil gas, and vapor intrusion services. This is a high-level, relationship‑driven role ideal for someone who brings technical credibility, industry relationships, and the ability to navigate a complex service organization.
The ideal candidate is consultative, people‑focused, and relentless in follow‑through, someone who knows how to sell technical services by understanding client needs rather than positioning offerings as “one‑size‑fits‑all.”
Core Service Focus
- Vapor Intrusion testing
- Soil Gas and Air testing
- Environmental and regulated laboratory services
- Technical sales within multifaceted testing portfolios
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow revenue within Environmental Testing services, with an emphasis on air and vapor intrusion
- Leverage and expand professional relationships within the industry
- Build trusted partnerships with environmental consultants, engineers, developers, and regulated clients
- Lead consultative sales discussions focused on:
- Client buying needs
- Project drivers, scope, and timelines
- Selecting the right testing solution for each application
- Navigate internal teams and service lines to deliver a seamless customer experience
- Collaborate closely with laboratory, technical, and operations teams
- Participate in brief, recurring internal check‑ins (e.g., weekly or bi‑weekly team meetings)
- Represent the organization professionally in competitive and regulated environments
Preferred Experience
- Experience in technical or environmental sales, particularly related to air, soil gas, or vapor intrusion
- Strong understanding of regulated environmental testing and laboratory workflows
- Prior success selling complex services in a matrixed organization
- Candidates with backgrounds in water testing, air testing, or broader environmental laboratory services will be considered if they demonstrate strong sales aptitude
- Ability to quickly learn service offerings, tools, and internal systems

- After ramp‑up:
- Hybrid / remote flexibility
- Combination of road‑based sales and home office work
- Expect monthly or bi‑monthly lab visits to stay connected to services and teams
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Folsom, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/hr.
