Systems Engineer

This role is responsible for executing rigorous systems engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex nuclear systems throughout their lifecycles. Working within established model-based systems engineering frameworks, this position ensures all system components work together effectively and meet project requirements. The Systems Engineer focuses on verifying and validating product requirements according to the systems engineering lifecycle process while maintaining clear documentation of design decisions and system interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems thinking and take a holistic approach to solve problems, analyze and design systems, considering the interdependencies and interactions between various components.
• Lead and manage systems engineering lifecycle efforts surrounding stakeholder and operational analysis, requirement identification, decomposition, and management, functional decomposition and modeling, logical system architecture development and modeling, and physical product definition, interface management, and change control.
• Oversee design integration and testing, system verification and validation, and concept of operations development and modeling.
• Develop and maintain system behavior models using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools within established Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) frameworks.
• Lead the identification and monitoring of technical risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Support value engineering activities including cost analyses, economic feasibility assessments, and cost reduction opportunity identification.
• Write and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Execute systems engineering processes within the quality management framework.
• Work across engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of system components and subsystems.
• Perform work in accordance with quality assurance procedures to ensure engineering products meet required standards.
• Always maintain a professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Experience writing engineering requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering, or other engineering related discipline from an ABET accredited institution.
• Experience and/or knowledge in System Lifecycle Processes (ISO), Operational & Stakeholder Analysis, Requirements Management, System Design & Interface Management, Design Integration & Testing, Verification & Validation, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools and Methods & Product Lifecycle Management Systems.
• Proficiency with tools such as Teamcenter PLM, Cameo, Genesys, SysML, and DOORS.
• Knowledge in systems modeling and simulation, interface control and management, configuration management, and risk assessment and management.

• Experience in economic feasibility assessments and cost reduction opportunity identification.
• Strong communication skills to relay technical details and project progress to diverse stakeholders.

On-Site Office Environment. The position offers 3 weeks of PTO and 11 holidays.

This is a Contract position based out of Oak Ridge, TN.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Oak Ridge,TN.
