Supplier Quality Engineer
Full-Time | Manufacturing & Metal Fabrication
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier audits, drive continuous improvement, and ensure high‑quality incoming materials and components for metal fabrication and assembly operations. This role partners closely with domestic and international suppliers to maintain consistent product quality, strengthen process controls, and support successful production launches.
This is a hands-on, highly collaborative position ideal for someone who excels at supplier development, root‑cause analysis, and cross-functional communication.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality & Auditing
- Conduct regular supplier quality, process, and product audits, both on-site and virtual, to verify compliance with company standards, customer specifications, ISO 9001, and applicable industry regulations.
- Travel internationally (e.g., China and Vietnam 1–2 times per year) to partner directly with overseas suppliers and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes related to metal fabrication, welding, forming, and assembly, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
Quality Improvement & Problem Resolution
- Lead continuous improvement activities with suppliers to enhance quality, reduce defects (PPM), improve on-time delivery, and strengthen corrective actions (8D, RCAs).
- Develop and present supplier improvement plans, and provide training to internal teams and suppliers on quality processes and requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, and Quality.
Documentation & Data Management
- Review and approve PPAP submissions for new or modified components before release to production.
- Maintain a comprehensive supplier performance database, including KPIs, audit results, quality scores, and risk evaluations.
- Prepare and deliver routine Operations Review reports summarizing supplier quality metrics, trends, corrective action status, and annual action plans.
Cross‑Functional Support
- Partner with logistics and receiving teams to resolve issues related to packaging, labeling, or material flow that may impact production.
- Provide technical support during new product introductions to ensure suppliers are prepared for launch and capable of meeting specification requirements.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support overall quality and operational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a metal forming, fabrication, welding, or assembly manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of supplier quality engineering, including PPAP, 8D, root-cause analysis, control plans, and process audits.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, presentations, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work cross‑functionally, and communicate professionally in written and verbal formats.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience supporting high‑mix, fast‑paced metal fabrication operations.
- Basic proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $73000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
