As a Substation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design, support, and long-term performance of protection and control systems across substations, transmission, and generation assets.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design protection and control systems for substations, transmission lines, and generation facilities
• Develop and maintain relay schemes, metering systems, and SCADA designs
• Specify substation equipment based on system needs and operating conditions
• Analyze system performance and data to support planning and ongoing improvements
• Build project scopes, timelines, and cost estimates for capital work
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Review and approve drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Support and mentor designers/technicians while ensuring quality and compliance

What They’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
• Experience working in a utility or closely related environment (substation, transmission, or generation)
• Strong understanding of protection schemes, relays, and control systems
• Hands-on experience with substation P&C design and relay logic
• Ability to read and develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and standard engineering tools/software

This is a Contract position based out of Overland Park, KS.

The pay range for this position is $43.33 - $80.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Overland Park,KS.
