Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing production tools and machines and developing effective solutions to production challenges related to materials, processes, and tooling. This role supports new programs by creating and implementing new manufacturing processes, designing tooling and machinery, and establishing robust production controls. The Manufacturing Engineer also sets up new equipment, verifies its reliable operation, and trains others to use it safely and effectively, ensuring smooth and efficient production performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design production tools, fixtures, and machines that support efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to address production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling.
  • Support new product and program launches by developing new processes, tooling concepts, and machinery designs.
  • Create and implement production controls to ensure consistent product quality and process stability.
  • Set up new manufacturing equipment and ensure it operates satisfactorily under production conditions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment, tooling, and processes to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Apply machining practices, drafting, and fabrication techniques to develop practical and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Drive process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate manufacturing requirements into product and process designs.
  • Train operators and other team members on the proper and safe use of new tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Utilize SAP and related systems to support manufacturing engineering activities, including documentation and process control.
Essential Skills
  • Manufacturing engineering experience with a strong understanding of production processes.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tools and machining design.
  • Proficiency in process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of machining practices and their application in a production environment.
  • Ability to apply drafting skills to develop and interpret technical drawings and tooling designs.
  • Experience with fabrication techniques used in manufacturing tooling and equipment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • SAP experience to support manufacturing engineering and production control activities.
  • Ability to set up, validate, and optimize new production equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve production issues related to materials, processes, and tooling.

  • Experience supporting new program launches through process and tooling development.
  • Ability to create and implement robust production controls to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively train and support production personnel.

Work Environment

This role is based fully on site in Mitchell within a manufacturing facility. The position involves frequent interaction with production equipment, tooling, and machinery on the shop floor, as well as time spent in an engineering or office setting for design, documentation, and process planning. The work environment supports collaboration with operations, engineering, and other functional teams in a global company that offers room for professional growth and development.

This is a Permanent position based out of Mitchell, SD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
