What You’ll Do
As a Substation Engineer III, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end substation design and lead projects that power communities and industries. You will:
- Lead Substation Design Projects
- Develop complete design packages from concept to construction
- Create physical layouts, grounding systems, trenching plans, and cable routing
- Drive Technical Excellence
- Produce and review AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Ensure design accuracy through thorough QA/QC reviews
- Design Protection & Control Systems
- Develop and test relay settings
- Perform engineering calculations (voltage drop, battery sizing, etc.)
- Own Project Delivery
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate projects of varying complexity
- Collaborate cross-functionally to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Mentor & Lead
- Guide junior engineers and interns
- Contribute to training programs and team development
What You Bring
✅ Required
- 6–15 years of experience designing and leading substation projects
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience across multiple voltage levels (69kV–765kV)
- Strong understanding of:
- Three-phase power systems
- Symmetrical components
- IEEE/ANSI device standards
⭐ Nice to Have
- Experience designing substations without predefined standards (greenfield/build-from-scratch projects)
- Renewable energy or utility-scale project experience
- Medium voltage or collection system design experience
- Familiarity with ETAP, SKM, or similar modeling tools
- ERP system experience (e.g., NetSuite)

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52.00 - $66.00/hr.
