Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Steel Detailer / CAD Designer to prepare detailed fabrication, shop, and erection drawings for steel assemblies and access structures. This role requires proficiency in Autodesk Advance Steel, AutoCAD, and Revit, along with strong attention to detail and collaboration skills to ensure accuracy and constructability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive fabrication, shop, and erection drawings for steel assemblies and access structures.
- Create connection details, bills of materials, and cut lists for fabrication shops.
- Ensure all drawings comply with engineering standards, codes, and company guidelines.
- Coordinate with fabrication shops, field supervisors, and engineering teams to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Revise and update drawings based on engineering feedback, field conditions, and client requirements.
- Maintain organized drawing submittals and revision control through CAD/PDM systems.
- Provide technical support during fabrication and erection, resolving drawing or dimensional issues on-site or in the shop.
- Assist application engineers with erection drawings, scaffold/hoist layouts, fabrication details, and assembly instructions.
- Support engineering staff with preparation of calculation packages (STAAD, RISA, Tedds, Enercalc, Excel, etc.) as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safety-first mindset in all work environments
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Autodesk Advance Steel, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Strong understanding of steel detailing, connection design, and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering feedback and field conditions.
- Excellent organizational skills for revision control and document management.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of structural analysis tools (STAAD, RISA, Tedds, Enercalc) is a plus.
- Commitment to workplace safety
Work Environment
The position is based in NJ, with a flexible hybrid work schedule starting at four days in-office and one day remote, transitioning to three days in-office and two days remote once productive and comfortable. The office hosts approximately 50-60 employees, with a fabrication shop next door employing about 150 people. The work is primarily performed in-office, with very limited travel or site visits. The engineering team comprises five engineers, with plans to hire a drafter/designer.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
