Position Summary
They are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 10–15 years of experience to join their Brea, California office. This role is highly technical and project-focused, ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on hands-on design leadership rather than personnel management. One will lead the execution of industrial and commercial-manufacturing structural projects, overseeing structural systems from initial design through final delivery. While this role does not include direct reports, one will mentor junior engineers and drafters on a project-by-project basis and serve as a trusted technical resource for complex design decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute structural engineering design for industrial and commercial-manufacturing facilities
- Perform detailed structural calculations and system design for steel and concrete structures
- Take full ownership of end-to-end structural design and coordination
- Guide junior engineers and drafters through design intent, detailing, and constructability reviews
- Spend approximately 50–70% of time on hands-on structural design and calculations
- Participate in coordination meetings, respond to RFIs, and interface directly with clients and project teams
- Conduct limited site visits and field work (approximately 10%)
- Review and coordinate structural drawings produced in AutoCAD or Revit
- Utilize Bluebeam extensively for markups, coordination, and document review
- Serve as a go-to engineer for technical problem-solving and decision-making
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- 10 years of professional structural engineering experience
- Strong background in industrial and commercial-manufacturing projects
- Expertise in structural analysis and design software, including:
- RAM
- RISA
- ENERCALC
- Excel and/or Mathcad
- Proven experience designing steel and concrete structural systems
- Strong drawing review, coordination, and documentation skills
- Ability to manage projects independently and interface directly with clients and owners
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience producing and coordinating construction documents across all project phases
- Experience managing small to mid-sized projects
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary coordination in architectural practice
Work Environment & Culture
- Primarily office-based during the first three months, with eligibility for hybrid work (up to two remote days per week) thereafter based on performance

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $58.00/hr.
