Job Title: Structural Engineer (Licensed SE)

Job Description

This role serves as the licensed Structural Engineer (SE) responsible for overseeing the structural execution of large-scale utility and infrastructure projects throughout Nevada. The position focuses on permitting, construction oversight, client coordination, and field execution rather than day-to-day structural design production. The Structural Engineer will lead structural efforts for ground-up utility developments, including transmission and energy infrastructure projects, and will act as the Structural Engineer of Record for applicable Nevada projects. The ideal candidate is hands-on, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes ownership of moving projects efficiently from permitting through completion while collaborating closely with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Structural Engineer of Record (SEOR) for assigned utility and infrastructure projects in Nevada.
  • Oversee structural aspects of ground-up construction projects from initial planning through project completion.
  • Coordinate and obtain structural permits and approvals through Clark County and other governing agencies.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings, progress meetings, and client coordination meetings to align expectations and deliverables.
  • Conduct regular site visits and field observations throughout project execution to monitor progress and quality.
  • Maintain approximately 20% field presence to verify construction activities and witness critical structural components, including foundations and major structural installations.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, requests for information (RFIs), and construction documentation for structural compliance and constructability.
  • Ensure all projects comply with Nevada building codes, structural engineering regulations, and applicable industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, utility providers, and government agencies to support coordinated project delivery.
  • Monitor scheduling, project milestones, and construction activities to help ensure timely project completion.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve structural issues that arise during construction.
  • Provide structural guidance and technical leadership to project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support business growth initiatives and expansion into additional infrastructure and utility sectors.
  • Review and approve structural designs to ensure they meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Engage with clients in a professional, client-facing capacity, providing clear communication and maintaining strong working relationships.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Active Nevada Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Active Nevada Structural Engineer (SE) license or the ability to obtain Nevada reciprocity immediately.
  • Minimum of 5 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Experience overseeing construction projects through permitting, active construction, and project closeout.
  • Knowledge of Nevada building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of structural systems including concrete, steel, foundations, retaining structures, and utility-related infrastructure.
  • Experience conducting site observations and coordinating with contractors during construction.
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience and the ability to oversee projects effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project schedules simultaneously.
  • Solid foundation in structural engineering principles and their application to large-scale infrastructure projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience within utility, energy, transmission, power generation, telecommunications, or infrastructure industries.
  • Previous involvement with transmission line, substation, renewable energy, or utility construction projects.
  • Experience working with Clark County permitting and plan review processes.
  • serving as Engineer of Record on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing projects with multi-year construction schedules.
  • Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Interest in working on meaningful projects that enhance national and commercial infrastructure security.
  • Motivation to manage multimillion-dollar projects with high visibility and responsibility.
  • Desire to contribute within a collaborative, high-performance culture that values accountability and innovation.
  • Interest in working with cutting-edge ballistic, blast, forced-entry, and perimeter protection technologies.

Work Environment

The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is primarily office-based, with approximately 80% of the time spent in the office and about 20% spent in the field conducting site visits and observations. The work environment supports collaboration with high-performance project teams and offers exposure to advanced physical security technologies, including ballistic, blast, forced-entry, and perimeter protection systems. The setting involves close coordination with contractors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies, and includes regular participation in project meetings and field activities across Nevada utility and infrastructure sites.
