Job Description
This role focuses on designing and coordinating fire sprinkler systems for complex facilities, with a strong emphasis on data center projects. You will use AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks to produce code-compliant designs and detailed shop drawings, collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality fire protection solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate fire sprinkler systems for data centers and other facilities using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to develop accurate sprinkler layouts.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and plans that comply with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
- Collaborate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers to clarify design requirements and ensure project alignment.
- Incorporate feedback from project stakeholders into design revisions while maintaining compliance and constructability.
- Coordinate sprinkler designs with other building systems to avoid conflicts and support efficient installation.
- Support the review and quality control of designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project timelines.
- Utilize design software tools effectively to model systems, detect clashes, and optimize layouts for performance and cost.
- 3–9 years of sprinkler design experience, including specific experience with data center sprinkler design.
- Proficiency in Revit for fire protection and sprinkler system design.
- Proficiency in Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
- Experience using AutoCAD for preparing fire sprinkler layouts and shop drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable fire protection codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements related to sprinkler systems.
- Strong coordination and communication skills for working with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
- NICET Level II or Level III certification in fire protection or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience working on electrical or building systems coordination is beneficial.
- Ability to adapt to different software platforms and design workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, code-compliant designs.
The position offers a hybrid work model after an acclimation period, typically between one and six months, during which you will become familiar with the company’s software, standards, and operational processes. After this period, you can expect to work remotely two to three days per week, with the remaining time spent in the office. You will work under the guidance of the Sprinkler Design leadership team in a collaborative environment that emphasizes long-term tenure, professional growth, and stability. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Hanover, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88/hr.
