Job Description
The Site Safety Coordinator maintains an active presence on a large industrial construction site, ensuring that all work adheres to safety standards, project plans, and quality expectations. This role focuses on conducting daily safety audits, documenting findings in detail, and collaborating closely with project teams, subcontractors, and other on-site partners to support safe and efficient project execution.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a consistent and visible safety presence on an industrial construction site throughout the workday.
- Perform comprehensive daily safety audits of the site, including work areas, equipment, and activities.
- Prepare detailed safety audit reports each day, including written documentation and clear photographs.
- Coordinate safety-related activities and communication with subcontractors, the owner/client representatives, and other on-site vendors.
- Partner closely with project managers to understand project schedules, timelines, and key milestones, and align safety activities accordingly.
- Review and help enforce construction safety plans, site plans, and project plans to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Support quality assurance and quality control efforts on large construction projects, with an emphasis on industrial environments.
- Assist with document control and data entry related to safety audits, incident reports, and construction documentation.
- Use construction management and project coordination tools to track safety issues, follow up on corrective actions, and support project administration.
- Contribute to the management of construction documents, including change orders, site plans, and project schedules as they relate to safety and quality.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify potential safety risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with all on-site personnel to promote a strong safety culture.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing safety audits for construction sites, preferably on large or industrial projects.
- Experience conducting QA/QC activities on large construction projects, ideally in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA standards, and safety audit procedures.
- Familiarity with construction management principles, including site construction, site management, and site planning.
- Ability to prepare detailed written safety reports and documentation, including the use of photographs.
- Proficiency with construction software and tools used for reporting, documentation, and project coordination.
- Strong skills in document control and data entry related to construction and safety documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for creating and managing reports, spreadsheets, and documentation.
- Effective communication and coordination skills for working with project managers, subcontractors, and on-site vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to safety audits and quality checks.
- OSHA 10 certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a similar field is preferred but not required.
- Experience with construction document management, including project plans, project schedules, and change orders.
- Background in construction management, project coordination, or project administration.
- Experience working on renovation or industrial construction projects.
- Ability to adapt to changing project needs and timelines while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Comfort using various construction management and documentation software platforms.
Work Environment
This position is based on an industrial construction site in Torrance, CA, with work expected to run from approximately April through the end of July, with the possibility of extension or reassignment to another site for those open to travel. The role is 100% on-site after the initial onboarding period, during which the first few days may include some remote or work-from-home time. The work environment is fully field-based at an active construction site, requiring frequent movement around the site, regular interaction with project teams and subcontractors, and daily use of construction and safety documentation tools. The schedule offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to manage your own time within the needs of the project. Consultants on this program have previously seen extensions and opportunities to move to additional projects, creating potential for continued engagement and future assignments.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Torrance, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
