Actalent partners with some of the nation’s largest utility providers to deliver complex, high‑voltage substation projects that strengthen grid reliability and support long‑term system growth. As a Substation Engineering Manager, you’ll lead multidisciplinary engineering teams executing high‑impact substation work—from upgrades and expansions to greenfield builds—while serving as a trusted technical and delivery partner to utility clients.
This role is ideal for a seasoned substation leader who wants to stay close to the technical work, influence delivery strategy, and develop top engineering talent in a consulting and utilities services environment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead managers and teams of substation engineers, designers, and drafters across multiple utility programs
- Serve as a senior technical authority for substation design and execution
- Own project performance across schedule, quality, and cost
- Partner directly with Fortune 500 utility clients as a senior point of contact
- Drive consistent engineering standards, quality control, and risk mitigation
- Resolve complex technical, staffing, and delivery challenges
- Mentor engineers and develop future technical and people leaders
- Support growth by strengthening client relationships and expanding project portfolios
What You Bring
- PE license and Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 10 years of substation engineering experience in utilities, consulting, or EPC environments
- Proven leadership of large, multidisciplinary substation teams
- Experience managing multi‑million‑dollar project portfolios
- Strong understanding of utility standards, substation design, and execution risk
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, executives, and technical teams
- Financial and operational acumen to manage delivery performance
