We are seeking a Technical Manager – Project Management to lead project management and project controls teams supporting high‑visibility utility capital programs. This role is ideal for a proven utility project leader who thrives at the intersection of people leadership, portfolio execution, and client partnership.
What You’ll Do
Lead Utility Project Teams
- Lead and mentor project managers, project coordinators, schedulers, and project controls professionals supporting T&D and utility capital programs
- Set clear expectations, coach performance, and develop future leaders within the project organization
Drive Capital Program Execution
- Oversee project and portfolio performance across cost, schedule, quality, and risk
- Ensure project baselines, forecasting, and change management processes are executed with discipline
- Monitor portfolio health and proactively address risks, trends, and delivery challenges
Partner with Utility Clients
- Serve as a key point of contact for utility stakeholders on execution, resourcing, and performance
- Collaborate with client teams to improve workflows, resolve issues, and strengthen delivery outcomes
- Support resolution of challenges related to scope changes, staffing, invoicing, and execution strategy
Support Growth & Scalability
- Help expand Actalent’s project management footprint within existing utility programs
- Support the build‑out of scalable teams aligned to long‑term utility capital plans
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management standards and best practices
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
- PMP certification required
- 10 years of experience supporting utility or infrastructure capital projects
- 10 years of experience in project management, project controls, scheduling, or coordination
- Proven experience overseeing portfolios totaling $5M in annual revenue
- 3 years of people leadership experience with increasing responsibility
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of utility transmission & distribution projects, capital programs, and execution models
- Expertise in project controls, forecasting, cost management, and risk mitigation
- Ability to lead diverse, cross‑functional teams in matrixed environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence utility stakeholders and internal teams
- Financial acumen and experience managing project and business performance

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
