🌿 Senior Biologist – Regulatory Permitting & Biological Resources

Location: Inland Empire / Greater Southern California

Schedule: Hybrid (Mon–Wed Onsite, Thu–Fri Remote)

Type: Full-Time (40 hrs/week)

Are you a seasoned biologist ready to lead technical permitting, mentor a growing team, and guide biological work across high‑impact public and private projects? This role places you at the center of Southern California’s most meaningful environmental and infrastructure efforts.

We’re supporting an established consulting team seeking a Senior Biologist who can bring strong regulatory experience, biological reporting expertise, and leadership to a busy, high‑demand program.

What You’ll Lead

  • Prepare and oversee 401, 404, and 1600 permit packages, including direct coordination with
  • CDFW, RWQCB, and USACE regulators.
  • Write and review a range of biological technical documents:
  • habitat reports, biological assessments, biohabitat evaluations, and CEQA/NEPA biological sections.
  • Serve as the final reviewer and approver for all biological deliverables before submittal to agencies.
  • Oversee construction monitoring programs (minimal field time for Senior role; juniors may have up to 50%).
  • Manage 4–5 major projects plus 4–5 monitoring/drag‑along projects at any given time.
  • Maintain project flow during peak nesting season (March ramp‑up; slows by October).

Leadership & Mentorship

You’ll guide a growing biology team, including:

  • 1 mid-level biologist
  • 3 junior biologists
  • Additional coordination with internal Senior resources (Ruth, Sonia)

You’ll provide daily mentorship, technical direction, workload balancing, and QA/QC oversight—ensuring the team continues to meet permitting deadlines and produce high‑quality biological deliverables.

Project Types You’ll Support

A diverse mix of public‑ and private‑sector clients, including:

  • Cities
  • Counties
  • Water agencies
  • Flood control districts
  • Private developers

Projects span transportation, stormwater, land development, and public infrastructure.

  • Hybrid: Onsite Monday–Wednesday, Remote Thursday–Friday

Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

  • High-impact role with real technical authority
