Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Scientist I to join our production team specializing in Chemistry. The ideal candidate will perform organic chemistry syntheses in a manufacturing environment, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency in our production processes. This role requires a deep understanding of scientific principles, process documentation, and the ability to suggest improvements to our manufacturing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform organic chemistry syntheses and conduct analyses of reagents, components, and finished products.
- Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, work in progress, and finished products using advanced ERP functions.
- Analyze and interpret scientific data, utilizing specialized technical knowledge or skills.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with representatives from other departments and teams.
- Actively participate in team activities, including conflict resolution, team building, and scheduling.
- Identify and solve manufacturing problems by recognizing variables, performing experiments, and recommending corrections.
- Maintain accurate records of all manufacturing and product development work through appropriate documentation.
- Critically evaluate, revise, or create process documents to ensure quality manufacturing processes.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and strive to improve product quality through efficient processes.
- Participate in intra-team or inter-departmental problem-solving teams as required.
- Work with EH&S to ensure safety guidelines are followed.
- Contribute to New Product Development and co-development with R&D or Manufacturing Sciences.
Essential Skills
- Strong technical writing, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently handle multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and summarize scientific results clearly.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to lead and provide work direction.
- Experience in a team-based environment, manufacturing research and commercial products for the life sciences industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent disciplines.
- Minimum 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in Organic Chemistry is preferred.
- Experience with SOPs, laboratory documentation, wet chemistry, mass spectrometry, HPLC, and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality standards.
Work Environment
The position is based in a chemistry production lab located in Rockford, IL, operating within a lab, office, and production environment. The role involves working on organic synthesis and requires adherence to safety and quality standards.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Rockford, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
