Sales Engineer

Job Description

The Application Engineer evaluates customer applications, supports new product engineering, and helps deliver tailored solutions that meet technical, budget, and schedule requirements. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise, customer-facing support, and project management to optimize production and maintenance processes while contributing to the growth of industrial water systems and related machine and system designs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer applications for existing and future products to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with customer needs.
• Collaborate with internal teams to complete projects within defined budget and scheduling constraints.
• Review production and maintenance reports to identify opportunities for optimization and propose practical, data-driven solutions.
• Provide technical support for new product engineering, including design input, testing feedback, and application guidance.
• Monitor project progress and performance against project plans, proactively identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
• Use in-depth technical knowledge of product offerings to support sales efforts and help build new business opportunities.
• Participate in the design, build, and testing of industrial water systems and related machinery to ensure reliable and efficient performance.
• Work directly with customers to understand their requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver high-quality support and follow-up.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, products, and customer experience by sharing insights from field and customer interactions.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience working directly with customers in a technical or engineering capacity.
• Mechanical engineering knowledge and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience providing customer support for technical products or systems.
• Project management skills, including the ability to work within budget and schedule constraints.
• Ability to interpret and analyze production and maintenance reports to develop optimized solutions.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
• Ability to apply technical product knowledge to support and build sales opportunities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edison, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $45.67/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Edison,NJ.
