The Safety Specialist administers all onsite safety, health, and environmental requirements during installation and sustaining activities. This role supports and enforces safety programs, conducts audits and inspections, leads incident investigations, and provides guidance to employees, contractors, and onsite safety personnel. The Safety Specialist works closely with leadership and operations teams to promote a strong safety culture, develop and deliver training, and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop, review, evaluate, and implement health and safety policies, programs, and procedures as assigned.
- Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization through consistent communication and engagement.
- Investigate serious and critical personal injuries and near-miss incidents involving company personnel, contractors, and visitors.
- Assist operations teams with root cause analysis for incidents, identify corrective and preventive actions, and track completion of those actions.
- Investigate and assist with solutions for complaints related to hazardous working conditions, and report findings to appropriate senior staff.
- Respond to employee safety concerns, provide guidance on solutions, and track issues through to resolution.
- Track and provide safety metrics and performance data as requested by leadership.
- Maintain all safety and health records in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepare reports as requested.
- Provide direction and oversight for contract safety personnel working onsite.
- Conduct worksite safety inspections to recognize safe work practices, identify hazards, and collaborate with employees and management to implement effective controls.
- Attend meetings related to the safety of company personnel and provide input on safety issues and initiatives.
- Assist in the development of site safety plans and manage the upkeep and periodic review of those documents.
- Ensure site safety plans are reviewed and discussed during project kickoff meetings.
- Review pre-task plans to verify that hazards are identified and appropriate controls are in place.
- Coordinate onsite, customer-specific safety training to ensure alignment with client requirements.
- Conduct weekly safety audits, document findings, and submit reports to appropriate personnel.
- Arrange for health and safety testing and evaluations of the workplace by external agencies and consultants as needed.
- Act as a liaison with customer representatives and key contracted personnel on all safety-related matters.
- Develop and deliver assigned safety training programs in a professional and engaging manner.
- Coordinate training of personnel in safety topics such as first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections, and implementation of safety procedures.
- Liaise with the customer regarding emergency procedures, communications protocols, and safety education programs.
- Analyze work processes, conduct risk assessments, and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies as required, supporting inspections, inquiries, and compliance efforts.
- Support and promote a culture of safe work practices and safety excellence across all operations.
- At least 2 years of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience in a professional environment, such as manufacturing or construction.
- At least 1 year of experience assisting in the creation of safety plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Professional experience participating in at least two safety audits.
- Current OSHA 10 certification.
- General knowledge of accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulatory requirements and their application in the workplace.
- General knowledge of safety and occupational health methods, practices, principles, and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience working with contractors and construction safety environments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, and document safety training in a professional manner.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong written communication skills, including process documentation and report preparation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, contractors, and customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member across organizational lines to achieve safety goals.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative within established guidelines.
- Hands-on experience with safety audits, risk assessments, and implementation of safety controls.
- Experience with construction or industrial safety procedures and compliance.
- 4 years of EHS experience in a professional environment, such as manufacturing or construction, is highly valued.
- Experience developing and maintaining safety plans and SOPs beyond the minimum requirement.
- Experience leading or supporting multiple safety audits in a professional setting.
- OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
- OSHA 500 certification is a plus.
- BCSP certifications such as CHST, OHST, ASP, or GSP are preferred.
- Experience in semiconductor, industrial, or cleanroom environments is beneficial.
- Experience coordinating or delivering training in first aid, CPR, accident prevention, and workplace inspections.
- Familiarity with safety metrics, reporting, and data tracking tools.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and external agencies.

This role is based onsite in a semiconductor cleanroom and installation environment. Work takes place primarily on customer premises, supporting installation and sustaining activities in controlled, technical facilities. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday on a day shift, with occasional Saturdays depending on workload. Initial training during the first week typically runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After training, shifts can start as early as 5:30 a.m. and are generally 10 hours long, Monday through Friday. Another shift option may run approximately 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., depending on business needs and candidate availability. The role requires regular presence in semiconductor cleanroom areas and construction or installation zones, where safety protocols and PPE are strictly enforced. Casual work attire is acceptable; however, long pants and long-sleeve shirts are required, along with company-provided personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, and other PPE as needed. The environment is fast-paced and highly safety-focused, with close collaboration among operations, contractors, and customer teams. The position is local and does not include per diem.
