Job Description
The Safety Engineer will work onsite in the field at active construction projects, partnering closely with trade crews to implement and administer accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures. This role provides safety technical expertise and support, promotes safe work practices, and serves as a key liaison for site safety management. The Safety Engineer will focus on identifying and mitigating safety and health hazards, driving a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work onsite at construction projects, directly supporting field and trade crews with day-to-day safety guidance and oversight.
- Administer and enforce company accident prevention plans, safety policies, and procedures across all assigned projects.
- Provide safety technical expertise and support to the branch, project teams, and craft workers.
- Promote and reinforce safety procedures and safe work practices through ongoing presence, coaching, and communication.
- Assist in the investigation of work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents, ensuring thorough root-cause analysis.
- Enforce corrective actions to prevent recurrence of hazardous conditions, unsafe behaviors, or non-compliance with safety standards.
- Review all accident and incident investigation reports for completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Act as a liaison between the company and the client on all matters related to site safety management and expectations.
- Assist in identifying, correcting, and mitigating both routine and non-routine safety and health hazards on the job site.
- Counsel and coach workers at all levels to gain consistent compliance with accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures.
- Provide safety resources and guidance to workers, including information on safe work methods, equipment, and protective measures.
- Identify, anticipate, and evaluate potential safety and health hazards before and during work activities.
- Conduct regular job site inspections and periodic safety audits to evaluate compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Document inspection and audit findings and follow up to verify completion and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Establish branch and project-specific safety goals in collaboration with project teams and leadership.
- Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure suitability and compliance with standards.
- Support and participate in safety training activities, including toolbox talks and formal safety training sessions.
- Promote a behavioral-based safety mindset and culture throughout the workforce.
- 2–4 years of construction safety experience, preferably in an onsite, field-based role.
- Demonstrated experience with construction safety practices, including site safety management and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulations relevant to construction.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent OSHA safety training.
- Hands-on experience with fall protection practices and equipment in a construction environment.
- Experience with aerial work platforms and associated safety requirements.
- Proficiency in implementing and monitoring safety procedures on active construction sites.
- Ability to conduct thorough incident and near-miss investigations and develop effective corrective actions.
- Proven ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety and health hazards on construction sites.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with craft workers, project teams, and clients.
- Experience applying a behavioral-based safety mindset in day-to-day field activities.
- Ability to evaluate and approve appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- OSHA 500 certification preferred; other relevant OSHA certifications considered.
- OSHA 510 or similar OSHA safety coursework is beneficial.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Background in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices in construction.
- Experience delivering or supporting safety training for construction teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, counsel, and influence workers and leaders.
- Comfort working with all levels of communication, including craft, supervision, project management, and client representatives.
This is a salaried, onsite construction safety role at a large data center construction site in Eagle Mountain. The Safety Engineer works primarily in the field, closely integrated with project teams and craft workers in an active construction environment. The role involves regular site walks, inspections, and interaction with various trades, equipment, and elevated work such as aerial work platforms and fall protection systems. The position operates within a collaborative team setting focused on construction safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Standard construction site attire and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are required at all times. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, UT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
