Job Description
The RF Test Technician will perform hands-on testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of RF and mixed-signal electronic products down to the component level, using a wide range of test and measurement equipment. This role supports advanced flight test instrumentation and data recording systems used in aerospace and defense applications, working closely with engineering teams to analyze prototypes, execute test procedures, and perform rework based on test results.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot RF and mixed-signal products down to the component level using oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and related test equipment.
- Perform calibration, functional testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
- Determine and develop test specifications, methods, and procedures by interpreting blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and other technical documentation.
- Test and troubleshoot electronic assemblies and subassemblies to isolate faults and identify root causes at the component level.
- Analyze defective prototypes provided by the engineering team and provide clear feedback on issues discovered during testing.
- Complete rework and modifications on engineering designs and systems based on test outcomes and engineering direction.
- Use digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, baseband signal generators, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, RF power meters, RF signal generators, and Bit Error Rate Testers to execute test plans.
- Read and follow detailed test procedures, schematics, assembly drawings, interface control drawings, and other product-related documentation.
- Perform precision soldering under a microscope on small components down to 0402 size as required for rework and repair.
- Support tuning and adjustment of microwave RF power amplifiers, where applicable, to meet performance specifications.
- Manage multiple test activities simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining high quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and lab personnel to ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and communication of test results.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of RF principles and RF test practices.
- Proven experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies down to the component level.
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, baseband signal generators, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, RF power meters, RF signal generators, and Bit Error Rate Testers.
- Proficiency using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes in a lab environment.
- Ability to read and interpret test procedures, schematics, assembly drawings, interface control drawings, and related technical documentation.
- Ability to solder under a microscope on components down to 0402 size.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across RF, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or trade school education in electronics, RF, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of RF and microwave circuits and power amplifiers is preferred.
- Microwave RF power amplifier tuning experience is highly desirable.
- IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with flight test instrumentation, data recorders, and sensor-based acquisition systems is a plus.
- Comfort working with digital, RF, and mixed-signal test setups, including signal generators and measurement instruments.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to document test results clearly and accurately.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams in a fast-paced lab environment.
This position is 100% onsite in an engineering lab environment in Newtown, PA. The lab features electro-static flooring and specialized pressure testing equipment designed to simulate demanding conditions such as those encountered in aerospace and space applications. Work centers on advanced flight test instrumentation, data recorders, and sensor-based acquisition systems used in commercial and military aircraft, as well as emerging battery-powered air vehicles. The role follows a single shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Lab attire is required while working in the facility. The environment is hands-on, technical, and highly collaborative, with regular use of RF and mixed-signal test equipment and close interaction with engineering teams.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
