Job Description
The Quality Technician works on the production floor to perform quality checks, ensure that quality processes are followed, and maintain accurate documentation. This role focuses primarily on in-process quality inspection in a clean manufacturing environment, with limited lab work that involves preparing samples for third-party testing. The Quality Technician interprets and follows specifications and standard operating procedures, complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and communicates quality-related information clearly in both verbal and written form.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality checks on products directly on the production floor throughout the manufacturing process.
- Ensure quality processes and procedures are consistently followed across multiple production lines.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely quality documentation and records.
- Prepare product samples for shipment to third-party testing partners, following proper handling and labeling procedures.
- Accurately interpret and follow reference documentation, including product specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) at all times.
- Communicate quality-related findings, issues, and updates clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form.
- Walk the production floor regularly to pull samples from various lines for inspection and testing.
- Identify potential quality issues and escalate concerns according to established procedures.
- Support a positive quality culture by collaborating with production and other teams to uphold high standards.
- Use basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and data entry related to quality checks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by following training, adopting best practices, and providing feedback on quality processes.
- At least 8 months of quality experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting if no degree, or an associate degree in the sciences with no work experience.
- Hands-on experience with quality control, quality assurance, or quality inspection (if no degree).
- Ability to perform detailed quality checks and inspections on the production floor.
- Ability to accurately interpret and follow specifications, SOPs, and other reference documentation.
- Strong attention to detail to identify and document quality issues and deviations.
- Basic math skills to support measurements, calculations, and data recording.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and documenting quality-related information.
- Ability to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Comfort working in a manufacturing and quality-focused environment with multiple production lines.
- Ability to walk the facility and pull samples from various production lines as needed.
- Associate degree in a scientific discipline is preferred for candidates without prior work experience.
- Previous experience in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment is preferred for candidates without a degree.
- Interest in building a long-term career in a manufacturing and quality setting with opportunities for advancement.
- Willingness to learn, be trained, and develop new skills in quality and manufacturing.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with production and quality teams.
- Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, samples, and multiple tasks on the production floor.
This role is based in a clean, large manufacturing facility with several production lines that require regular walking to pull samples and perform inspections. The schedule is 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime. Saturday overtime may be required on a rotational basis and can vary in hours (for example, 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM) depending on business needs, though it is not every Saturday. The environment is positive and team-oriented, with a strong culture that emphasizes training, development, and quality. The facility manufactures a wide range of personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners, and sunscreens for well-known brands, providing an excellent opportunity to gain experience and start or grow a career in the sciences and manufacturing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
