Job Title: Quality Specialist

In this hands‑on role, you’ll be a key contributor throughout the product lifecycle—performing incoming, in‑process, and final inspections to ensure materials and assemblies meet exacting engineering and quality standards. You’ll work with advanced inspection tools, collaborate closely with Engineering and Manufacturing, and help drive continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, high‑tech manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do:
Quality Inspection & Verification
- Perform Incoming Quality Inspections (IQA) on wafers, PCB/PCBA, electronic components, and precision mechanical parts.
- Conduct in‑process inspections during manufacturing to verify components and assemblies meet defined specifications.
- Execute Final/Outgoing Quality Inspections (OQA) to ensure finished assemblies and modules meet all quality and performance requirements.
- Support First Article Inspections (FAI), including detailed measurement, documentation, and specification verification.
- Execute AQL sampling plans to ensure risk‑based inspection coverage.
Technical Analysis & Documentation
- Interpret engineering drawings, prints, and technical specifications to evaluate critical features and inspection criteria.
- Apply established inspection procedures and accept/reject criteria to ensure objective, consistent quality decisions.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects, nonconformances, and deviations with clarity and urgency.
- Generate and manage Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMRs), tracking status and coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
- Maintain accurate, well‑organized inspection records and reports to support traceability and audit readiness.
Tools, Technology & Collaboration
- Use state‑of‑the‑art inspection equipment, including optical and digital microscopes, CMMs, and precision measurement tools.
- Perform particle counts in cleanroom and non‑cleanroom environments.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends and recommending process, documentation, or inspection enhancements.
What You BringL
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of hands‑on IQA experience inspecting wafers, PCB/PCBA, electronic components, and mechanical parts.
- 2 years of OQA experience inspecting finished assemblies or modules.
- 2 years in a high‑tech manufacturing environment.
- Experience using microscopes, CMMs, and precision inspection equipment.
- Experience performing FAI and working with AQL sampling plans.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering prints, and specifications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to spot subtle defects.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently, follow procedures, and thrive with minimal supervision.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments and following cleanroom protocols.
Nice to Have:
- Associate degree in a technical or related field.
- IPC certification or experience working to IPC standards.
- Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp activities.
- Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple inspections simultaneously.
- Comfort working in a fast‑changing, high‑accountability environment.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a fast‑paced, high‑tech manufacturing setting where quality, precision, and collaboration are mission‑critical. You’ll work on the production floor, in inspection labs, and in cleanroom environments as needed, using advanced inspection tools and modern documentation systems. The role supports both ongoing production and NPI ramp efforts, offering variety, challenge, and continuous learning—while playing a vital role in delivering high‑quality, dependable products.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
