Job Title: Quality InspectorJob Description

The Quality Inspector ensures that manufactured parts and assemblies meet all quality standards by performing first piece, in-process, and final inspections. This role sets up and uses a variety of gages and measuring equipment, conducts random audits at production machines, and collaborates closely with production teams to identify issues and implement effective solutions. The position requires at least 2 years of recent quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or machining environment, strong inspection skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a positive team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections to verify that parts and assemblies meet specified requirements and quality standards.
  • Set up and use gages, including bore gages, gage blocks, rail gages, and other inspection tools, to accurately measure and validate product dimensions.
  • Identify and resolve minor inspection discrepancies during first piece and in-process inspections, and escalate major inspection issues to the Quality Engineer or Quality leadership as appropriate.
  • Conduct random inspection audits at production machines to monitor ongoing product quality and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Work effectively with production employees to analyze quality issues, determine root causes, and implement practical corrective actions.
  • Promote and maintain a positive, collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement and high-quality output.
  • Operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, height stands, and comparators to perform precise dimensional checks.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand product requirements and inspection criteria.
  • Apply a general understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to evaluate part conformity and communicate findings.
  • Use Microsoft Office products to document inspection results, prepare reports, and maintain organized quality records.
  • Prioritize inspection tasks and manage workload effectively while working with minimal supervision.
  • Support calibration activities and proper use of inspection equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Contribute to quality control and quality assurance initiatives within a machining and manufacturing environment, including metals and machine manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent quality assurance or quality control experience, preferably in manufacturing or machining.
  • Proficiency in performing first piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Ability to set up and use a variety of gages, including bore gages, gage blocks, rail gages, and related inspection tools.
  • Experience with Zeiss Calypso software for CMM programming or operation.
  • Experience with Brown & Sharpe MicroVal software for CMM programming or operation.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • General understanding of GD&T application and interpretation in an inspection context.
  • Ability to operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and use micrometers, calipers, height stands, comparators, and other precision measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes, particularly in metals and machine manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products for documentation, reporting, and data tracking.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong quality inspection skills, including calibration awareness and quality checking of assemblies and components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience performing quality control and quality assurance activities in a metals manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with inspection of assemblies and machine-manufactured components.
  • Comfort working with various calibration and measurement tools to maintain equipment reliability.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with production staff and convey inspection results clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team environment and support continuous improvement efforts.
Work Environment

The role operates within a manufacturing and machining environment focused on metals and machine-produced components. Work is performed on or near production machinery and inspection areas, using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), micrometers, calipers, height stands, comparators, gage blocks, bore gages, rail gages, and other precision measuring devices. The position involves regular interaction with production employees and quality team members, with an emphasis on collaboration, problem solving, and maintaining high quality standards. The environment requires attention to safety, organization, and accuracy, and typically involves standard manufacturing hours with the need to manage multiple inspection priorities independently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
