Quality Assurance Technician – Food & Dietary Supplement Manufacturing
Shift Options: 1st or 2nd Shift
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to support quality and food safety activities within a regulated food/dietary supplement manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production readiness, product integrity, and compliance with GMP and food safety standards. The position is open to experienced QA professionals as well as entry-level science graduates.
Shift Responsibilities
1st Shift – Production Readiness & In-Process Quality
- Prepare production suites to ensure they are inspection-ready and operational
- General room walkthroughs and housekeeping checks
- Calibrate scales and verify equipment readiness
- Set up production jobs and review job tickets for accuracy
- Perform quality checks throughout production, including:
- Cleaning validations and line clearance
- ATP swabbing
- In-process checks (capsule weight, density, color, and bottle inspections)
- Coordinate with QA Specialists by reviewing job tickets for release
- Perform sampling activities:
- 10% sampling booth
- 90% production sampling
- Validate cleans and ensure compliance prior to production start
2nd Shift – Sampling & QA Support
- Perform finished product sampling
- Conduct raw material sampling
- Support production through:
- 90% sampling booth
- 10% production floor sampling
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the facility and products comply with all local, state, and federal food/supplement safety regulations
- Serve as a quality advocate and coach for GMPs, quality control techniques, and food safety principles
- Sample and analyze raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods to ensure specification compliance
- Perform cleaning validations, line clearances, and environmental monitoring (ATP-based)
- Assist with internal and external quality audits, including GMP, HACCP, customer, and regulatory audits
- Record, review, and interpret quality data; escalate deviations as needed
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data collection and analysis
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure compliance with GMP, sanitation, and pest control programs
- Assist in writing, reviewing, training, and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and quality documentation
- Perform document control activities, including:
- Issuing manufacturing records
- Reviewing and approving batch records and work instructions
- Reviewing shipping documentation
- Maintaining quality records and logs
- Review and approve laboratory analysis reports for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products
- Follow and enforce all company GMPs and SOPs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
- Minimum 1 year of food manufacturing experience
- OR
- Open to entry-level college graduates with degrees in:
- Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Biology
- Microbiology
- Comfortable working in a laboratory or regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams (heavy spreadsheet usage)
Preferred Skills
- Quality Assurance or Quality Inspection experience
- GMP experience within food or supplement manufacturing
- Experience with sampling, inspections, or laboratory testing
- HACCP exposure is a plus

Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand for the duration of a full shift
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach, and grasp as needed
- Ability to differentiate subtle color variations
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including:
- Respirator
- Hearing protection
- Safety shoes (employee-provided)
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
- English fluency required; Spanish bilingual preferred
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
