The Capital Projects Manager oversees project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial targets while aligning with broader business priorities. Responsibilities
- Lead capital projects through the full lifecycle, including feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Define, manage, and control project scope to ensure alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation strategies.
- Manage project schedules to ensure key deliverables are completed on time and in accordance with agreed timelines.
- Control project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure projects are delivered within financial targets.
- Coordinate and drive cross-functional collaboration between engineering, operations, maintenance, and external contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects, typically managing 5 to 10 projects at a time, while balancing priorities and resources effectively.
- Lead and support projects ranging from small to medium in size and complexity, with capital values typically between $50K and $3M.
- Ensure that project designs and implementations meet chemical manufacturing process requirements and safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight on process engineering and design aspects of projects, particularly within infrastructure-type projects.
- Monitor project risks, identify potential issues early, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project performance.
- Communicate project status, progress, and key decisions clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, sustainability, and safety in all project activities.
- Mentor and collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to foster professional growth and effective teamwork.
Essential Skills
- 5–10 years of experience in capital project management, preferably within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing capital projects through the full lifecycle, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience in chemical manufacturing, with a strong understanding of process operations and requirements.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, typically 5 to 10 projects at a time.
- Experience in small to medium capital projects, generally in the range of $50K to $3M in size and complexity.
- Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong project management skills, including scope, schedule, and budget control.
- Ability to coordinate and influence cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, and external contractors.
- Solid understanding of capital expenditure (capex) planning and execution in an industrial setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Process engineering and design experience is preferred, particularly in a chemical manufacturing context.
- Experience with infrastructure-type projects is preferred, as these are the primary focus of the role.
- Ability to develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies aligned with business priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present project updates clearly and confidently.

Work Environment
The position is based in a chemical manufacturing plant environment, working closely with on-site engineering, operations, and maintenance teams as well as external contractors. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
