Project Manager – Healthcare Interior Renovations
Job Description
This role leads and oversees multiple healthcare interior renovation projects from conception through completion, with a focus on hospital environments. The Project Manager prepares detailed project schedules, manages subcontractors and vendors, controls project documentation, and ensures that all work meets quality, budget, and timeline expectations. This position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced healthcare renovation settings and enjoys coordinating diverse project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive project schedules using Microsoft Project, ensuring all phases of work are clearly planned and tracked.
- Manage the full subcontractor process, including selection, coordination, oversight, and performance monitoring.
- Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and purchase orders to maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
- Coordinate and manage all bid proposals from multiple subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to support competitive and accurate project pricing.
- Lead and run weekly project meetings with contractors and hospital ownership teams to review progress, address issues, and align on next steps.
- Oversee multiple interior renovation projects simultaneously, ensuring each project stays on schedule and within budget.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, including cost tracking, forecasting, and supporting financial reporting as needed.
- Ensure strong document control practices are in place, maintaining organized records of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and related project documents.
- Apply a strong understanding of the construction process—from conception to completion—to identify risks, resolve issues, and drive project success.
- Coordinate work across all relevant trades, including concrete, electrical, and other construction disciplines, with a focus on healthcare and hospital environments.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and hospital stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Support the pursuit and successful execution of premier healthcare renovation projects that contribute to a growing portfolio in the region.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager focusing on interior renovation construction.
- Strong project management skills with proven experience in construction management and project coordination.
- In-depth understanding of the construction process from conception through completion.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing and overseeing project budgets, including cost tracking and control.
- Strong document control skills, particularly with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and related documentation.
- Hands-on experience with all aspects of construction, including concrete and electrical work.
- Specific experience in healthcare and hospital construction, with a focus on renovation projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project for scheduling and planning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for communication, documentation, and reporting.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hospital construction experience, preferably with interior renovation projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- Experience with tenant fit-out projects in addition to healthcare renovation work.
- Background in electrical construction and broader construction disciplines is beneficial.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Virginia, supporting premier healthcare renovation projects in hospital settings. The Project Manager will spend time both on active project sites and at the headquarters office located in the Navy Yard area of Washington, D.C. When not required on site, the individual can work from the HQ office at an assigned desk. The work environment combines field-based construction oversight with an office-based setting for planning, documentation, and coordination, and involves regular interaction with contractors, vendors, and hospital stakeholders.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39.00 - $43.50/hr.
