Project Manager - Sr. Molding Engineer

The Senior Molding Engineer will support Operations, Contract Manufacturing, Global Engineering, New Product Development (NPD), and Research and Development (R&D). This role involves leading projects using proficient project management skills, developing processes, and providing technical expertise in injection molding and related technologies. The candidate will manage project scope, estimate costs, procure tooling, and conduct installation, operational, and process qualifications for new molds.

• Mentor others by providing guidance and technical expertise.
• Demonstrate technical and professional competencies on medium to high-profile projects.
• Prepare project scope definitions and cost estimates.
• Break technical projects into fundamental tasks and manage project goals and schedules.
• Negotiate for resources, assign tasks, and ensure commitments are met.
• Monitor project progress and develop solutions to potential problems.
• Prepare reports or financial justifications and communicate results to management.
• Develop process concepts and alternatives, and prepare justifications for financial authorization.
• Lead or coordinate the design and testing of pilot processes for proof of concept work.
• Create process specifications and relevant documentation to support process introductions.
• Manage vendor partner relationships in the procurement of equipment.
• Complete process development and testing using systematic processes and techniques.
• Provide technical support for NPD, R&D, Contract Manufacturing, and Operations.
• Understand accounting principles and use business principles to evaluate alternatives.
• Create molding concepts and original mold designs, and integrate total molding systems.
• Create detailed quotes for new production equipment.
• Identify mold-related defects and provide direction to resolve issues.

• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in mold procurement and qualification
• BSME/EE/Chem E or equivalent required

The role is situated in a larger R&D environment, with a requirement to be on-site for four days per week and the option to work from home one day per week.

This is a Contract position based out of Mundelein, IL.

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Mundelein,IL.
