Job Description
The Project Manager III serves as the primary technical and project liaison for complex gas turbine generator projects, coordinating across customers, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms, internal engineering teams, and business stakeholders. This role leads continuous improvement and operational execution, manages technical inquiries and change requests, and ensures that all design documentation and equipment comply with contract requirements, budget constraints, and schedule commitments.
Responsibilities
- Act as the single point of contact for all customer technical inquiries, change requests, and communications related to the gas turbine and its auxiliaries within the Gas Turbine Project Engineer scope.
- Coordinate closely with customers, EPC firms, project management, multiple engineering organizations, and business associates to align expectations and ensure successful project execution.
- Lead customer kick-off meetings and design liaison meetings with customers and their design representatives to clarify technical requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
- Review contract documentation in detail and translate project requirements into clear guidance for all design and engineering functions.
- Utilize internal documentation systems and regular communication channels to distribute and track project requirements across internal engineering organizations.
- Drive lessons learned from completed and ongoing projects back into design engineering teams to prevent recurrence of issues and enhance continuous improvement.
- Track and manage project budgets, including evaluating the financial and schedule impacts of customer-requested scope changes through cost and cycle estimates.
- Implement approved scope changes through the formal change management process, including the preparation and execution of change orders.
- Monitor engineering schedules, identify potential delays, and take proactive, preventative actions to avoid delivery delays or late customer deliverables.
- Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, and installation personnel to ensure that equipment and documentation meet all customer requirements and business objectives.
- Function as the technical liaison between the customer and EPC representatives to confirm that supplied design documentation and equipment fully comply with contract requirements.
- Promote and support continuous improvement in project execution processes, documentation quality, and cross-functional collaboration.
Essential Skills
- Engineering degree.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in an engineering or closely related technical environment.
- A minimum of 2 years of project engineering, design engineering, and/or field engineering experience, ideally related to generator projects.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including coordination of multiple stakeholders and technical disciplines.
- Strong design engineering with the ability to interpret and communicate complex technical requirements.
- Proficiency in document management and use of internal documentation systems for tracking project requirements and deliverables.
- Experience with budget management, including tracking project budgets and assessing financial impacts of scope changes.
- Ability to review and interpret contract documentation and translate it into actionable requirements for engineering teams.
- Proven capability to provide technical support across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, supplier, and installation functions.
- Strong communication and liaison skills for working effectively with customers, EPCs, and internal stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with generator or gas turbine projects is highly desirable.
- Experience in technical liaison roles between customers and EPC representatives.
- Familiarity with formal change management processes, including cost and cycle estimating and change order implementation.
- Track record of driving lessons learned and continuous improvement into design and project execution processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain schedule adherence in a complex project environment.

You will collaborate regularly with engineering, project management, sourcing, and other cross-functional teams, leveraging internal documentation and communication systems to manage project requirements and deliverables. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Greenville, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $42.50 - $47.50/hr.
