Job Description
The Project Engineer leads cross‑functional programs from early development through production launch, ensuring every initiative stays aligned with scope, schedule, and objectives. In this role, you coordinate efforts across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations while serving as the central communication point for internal teams and customer stakeholders. You combine formal project management discipline with a hands‑on, practical approach to keep technically complex, mission‑critical programs moving forward in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross‑functional programs from kickoff through final delivery, ensuring alignment with defined scope, schedule, and objectives.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day activities across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations to maintain program momentum.
- Build and manage detailed project plans, including schedules, milestones, and dependencies, to guide execution from concept through production launch.
- Oversee project budgets and resource planning, ensuring appropriate allocation of people, equipment, and materials.
- Manage material coordination to support prototype builds, testing, and production readiness.
- Monitor project progress using clear metrics and tracking tools, identifying variances and taking corrective action when needed.
- Identify project risks early, develop mitigation plans, and implement them to protect delivery commitments and quality standards.
- Ensure products and programs meet engineering requirements, internal quality standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Serve as a central communication point for internal teams and customer stakeholders, ensuring clarity on priorities, status, and expectations.
- Facilitate timely issue resolution when technical or operational challenges arise, stepping in as needed to remove obstacles and maintain momentum.
- Prepare and present project status updates, risk assessments, and performance metrics to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Support new product and customer programs from early development through production launch, ensuring smooth transitions between phases.
- Balance structure with adaptability by applying formal project management practices while remaining flexible and resourceful in dynamic situations.
- Work closely with engineering leaders, technical specialists, and manufacturing teams to keep teams aligned on scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Engage directly with hardware development lifecycles and engineering change processes to ensure controlled, traceable updates to designs and builds.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in project management within engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee new product and customer programs from early development through production launch.
- Experience coordinating work across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations teams.
- Strong capability to build, manage, and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and milestone tracking.
- Ability to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement effective mitigation plans to protect delivery commitments.
- Experience ensuring products and programs meet engineering requirements, quality standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Comfort working in fast‑paced, technically complex environments where priorities can shift.
- Strong communication skills to serve as a central communication point for internal teams and customer stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare and present clear project status reports, risk summaries, and performance metrics to leadership.
- Hands‑on, resourceful approach, with a willingness to step in where needed to remove obstacles and keep programs moving forward.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting power electronics, embedded systems, or PCB‑based products.
- Familiarity with hardware development lifecycles and engineering change processes.
- Hands‑on exposure to prototype builds, testing, and product qualification activities.
- Working knowledge of engineering design tools such as Altium, SolidWorks, or equivalent platforms.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Murphy, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
